Judge Glen Harrison

Serving Nolan, Mitchell, and Fisher Counties

NOTICE REGARDING COVID-19 POLICY

Subject to constitutional limitations and upon good cause shown, a court participant, including, but not limited to, a party, an attorney or a witness, may be allowed to appear remotely. Request showing good cause must be made 24 hours prior to the beginning of the hearing or jury trial.

In Texas, the district courts are trial courts of general jurisdiction. The geographic area served by each court is established by the Legislature, but each county must be served by at least one district court. The 32nd Judicial District Court of Texas is a multi-county district court serving Fisher, Mitchell and Nolan Counties.

The 32nd Judicial District Court has general subject-matter jurisdiction. Generally, this jurisdiction includes original jurisdiction of felony criminal prosecutions, family law, suits to try title over land, election contests and civil suits with an amount in controversy of at least $200.00. The 32nd District Court hears contested probate cases and has original jurisdiction over all cases for which a remedy or jurisdiction is not provided by statute or the Constitution. The court has power to issue writs of habeas corpus, attachment, garnishment and all writs necessary to enforce its jurisdiction.

Appeals from judgments of the 32nd District Court are sent to the Eleventh Court of Appeals, except for capital offense cases in which the death penalty has been assessed, which are appealed directly to the Court of Criminal Appeals of Texas.

Note, that in Nolan County, the County Court at Law has concurrent jurisdiction with the district court in certain areas. By local rule, all family law cases should be filed there, unless otherwise directed.

The main office for the 32nd District Court is located on the 2nd floor of the Nolan County Courthouse. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
